You know you are in a small town when...

You know you live in a small town when the posts you put on your blog are all about....

rescuing a goldfish from the girls' bathroom toilet at the high school (senior pranks gone awry)
One of my students came to my classroom today with a goldfish in a plastic cereal container and asked me if I would keep it until after school. She found it in one of the toilets and just couldn't stand to see it flushed (all the others had been). I found a glass container for it and got some fish food from the science lab and babysat the little critter until school was out. I was almost hoping she would forget to come back for it, but she remembered.
You also know you are in a small rural town when you take pictures of your front yard being dug up to repair/replace/cuss the septic system that "friends" put in for you when the house was built and charged you for and ended up being extremely substandard. Oh well, live and learn.
On the other hand, small towns are great when you have friends with backhoes that will work 2 days straight for free just to fix what the other "friend?" did to you at a cost!!
At least next week we'll have picture of Emily to post!
