Curious Containers

A local art gallery owner came up with an idea to beautify Capitan. He suggested that all residents and business owners plant flowers in whatever creative containers they could come up with, and today was the day it all happened. Many people joined in on this, including our church. This is one of the things that make life in a small town fun.
Here are a few pictures.

Darlene Snyder helps Ed turn the church's old BBQ grills into "Feed my sheep" planters.

Lone Tree Camps office planted flowers in an old canoe alongside a camp site scenario.

The Capitan Library had planter boxes painted to look like Dr. Seuss stories.

One business used old boots as flower pots. These will look better once the flowers grow.

This is a local Mexican Food restaurant. The artificial flowers in their lampshade flower pots underneath the sign saying they have homemade pies kind of makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Once we got all dirty with potting soil, we decided it was time to start on our deck garden. We planted 6 tomato plants (2 each of grape tomatoes, patio tomatoes, and Early Girl tomatoes), as well as lots of flowers. We still have herbs inside that are ready to go on the deck as well.
