Spring in New Mexico

After Friday and Saturday when the temps were near 70 degrees, it was a shock to wake up to snow on Monday morning (not really since this is NM). We knew it would happen before Spring actually arrives--usually we have an Easter snow. It was nice to just sit home in front of the fireplace--no school, reading books, scrapbooking. What a life!

Holy Moly! Our Mouths Are On Fire!!

Since we didn't have much going on this weekend (for a change), we decided we'd just go to Albuquerque on Friday for the Annual Fiery Foods and Barbecue Show. It was huge with lots of vendors who had lots of things to taste and sell. We bought a few things. The hot sauces kinda built up on our tongues so after awhile, we couldn't even taste much. At the barbecue booths, we had to keep asking for hotter BBQ sauce because it tended to be sweet rather than spicy. We did find a really good cranberry chipotle finishing sauce that will be really good on our grilled salmon. We also found some hotter wing sauce that we are anxious to try. After the fiery foods show, we went to Whole Foods and stocked up on good seafood (wild salmon, mahi mahi) and ground bison. Yum! Here are a few pictures

This is a giant salsa bottle that is representative of most of the displays.

Have you ever seen so many bottles of hot sauce?

This vendor knew his stuff was hot, so he had a "fire truck" there!

This little piggy is actually a smoker that uses "charcoal pellets." Cool, huh?
