Kite Surfers at Hyannis Port Beach

Last night (June 30, 2010) Ed, Vi, and I walked down to another beach that is a little less protected from the wind to watch the kite surfers. There were about 10 of them with various skill levels, but it was incredible! The first picture shows a guy inflating his kite and the next is of a surfer on the water. What you can't see are the mid-air flips this guy was able to do while surfing really fast, all while being pulled across the water by his inflated kite.

Quail on the Deck

When I drove up after school today, Ed met me on the drive and motioned me to be quiet and come to the back door...couldn't imagine what could be wrong. Then he whispered, "There's a mountain quail on the deck." I tiptoed in, looked out the front door, and there was a big ole fat quail just making himself at home. He stayed at the front door for the longest time just getting acquainted...sure would have been a nice dinner for someone!

Spring time in the Mountains

It is almost Spring time in the Mountains of New Mexico. Our trees are blooming and you can hear the buzz of bees as you walk by. Linda said she saw a hummingbird this morning while on her deck for coffee. I thought I heard one in Ruidoso Downs the other day, so it won't be long. I hope to get some plants moved out of the house this week into the greenhouse. Still will need to put some heat out there for the cold mornings as it was 29 this morning out there.
Ready for some deck time and some warmer weather.

Hunkered Down In the Snow Storm

Seems like we're not the only ones hunkered down and taking it easy during the snow storm. Just outside our family room window we noticed this really big buck under the tree just eating and watching the snow. Look closely at his big antlers.

Our Last Day With the Boys

Wednesday was our last day with the boys. Meaghan went into her office to finish getting the new children's building ready for Sunday, so NanaJo & Grampa took the boys to play at the play area at the Frisco Mall. Of course, that also involved going to the Disney Store where Jackson made a long list of things he wants for his birthday in April. After lunch and naps, Grampa installed the baby-proof gate on the stairs because Grayson seems determined to crawl up them.
Jackson is supposed to stay in his room resting until his clock's green number turns to 4. He told his Mommy and me later that it was taking forever, and he was saying "Come on, Dude. Turn 4!" It finally did so he came and "helped" Grampa with the gate.

North Park Mall Train Display

This morning we took the boys to North Park Mall to see the train display which was a benefit for the Ronald MacDonald House. There were lots and lots of trains in settings of the old West, Mt. Rushmore, Washington D.C., NYC, Dallas, etc. Both boys enjoyed seeing all the trains, but it was really crowded.

The Grinch Who Stole Christmas Ice Town

Today we went to the Gaylord Hotel for their annual 30-ton ice exhibit. This year it was carved to be Who-Ville and the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. It was totally amazing, in spite of the 9 degree temperature. At one point Jackson just couldn't resist & licked the ice. We're lucky he's not stuck to a wall at the Gaylord. Since everything was ice, the pictures are a little reflective, so you don't get quite the feeling of being there, but here are a few pictures.
